About Me

Hello, and welcome!
I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years in various roles and with various populations; supporting adults as a mental health clinician/counsellor for the past 6 years. My passion as a helping professional began with a career in paramedicine during which I worked as an Emergency Medical Responder for over a decade. From that role, I bring with me a calming presence, the ability to attune to my clients' needs, and critical thinking skills.

My educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Psychology from Thompson Rivers University (2006). I then obtained a Certificate in Substance Use Counselling from Mc Master University (2016). Mostly recently, I completed my Master of Arts Degree in Counselling (MA) from Yorkville University (2022). I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (#21015).

I currently reside in Quesnel, BC; otherwise known as the unceded and traditional territory of the Lhtako Dene Nation. I am of mixed Indigenous and caucasian descent, a member of the Tl' etinqox First Nation, and am BIPOC and 2SLGBTQI+ allied. I'm available across BC for individual virtual counselling service via Zoom videoconference or telephone. At this time, I am exclusively seeing adult clients (19+).

Why Choose an RCC?
My Therapeutic Approach
My trauma-informed approach to counselling infuses elements of:
-CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
-DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)
-SFBT (Solution-Focused Brief Therapy)
-EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)
-EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
-Mindfulness-based strategies
-Polyvagal theory

As a therapist, I consider myself holistic and eclectic; drawing on my training and experience to help my unique clients to reach their goals for therapy. Holding space while being respectful, genuine, warm, authentic and curious, helps me to create safety within the counselling relationship. Through therapeutic conversations, my clients experience a supported opportunity to self-discover and uncover strengths as they shift, change, grow, and heal.
My areas of expertise include supporting clients to cope with stress, low mood, emotional dysregulation, communication challenges and substance use.
